Louis Renault was very attentive to the needs of governments and other services, which is why the Renault brand soon offered a wide range of specialist fire-fighting machinery. The Renault Type LO fire engine demonstrated this desire to offer a wide array of utility vehicles for fire fighters.

PUMP
After the First World War, fire-fighting vehicles evolved. The old hand pumps were replaced by thermal motor pumps, which offered a higher water flow and pressure (and which were then more effective against fire). But these vehicles were still heavy, and that’s where the light pumper came in. Renault Type LO (1926 version) had a centrifugal “rake” pump, which could draw water up to 4.80 m and then deliver it 60 m at a rate of 80 m³/h.
